Jenny Minchey

Dance has been a part of Jenny’s life for as long as she can remember. She began dancing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped since! Growing up she attended various dance, singing and theater classes. She started at a studio with combination classes where she was introduced to Jazz, Ballet and Tap! She was involved in a singing and dancing group named Vocal Works, and she also enjoyed studying Shakespeare and even performed in a few plays in school. She also performed in community plays. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the performing arts from a young age. After moving to Southern Utah at the age of 10, she started taking ballet classes at Blue Heron Yoga & Dance and shortly after, began dancing with Southern Utah’s Dance Magic - now known as Dance Magic Studios! She was on a few different teams including the Premier team, which at the time was the advanced competition team! She was trained in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and Tumbling. She competed state wide, traveled with the studio and got to perform at both Disneyland and Disneyworld!

At 16 she enrolled in Jazz and ballet classes at Westside Studio in St. George. She thoroughly enjoyed her training there for a season, but she was thrilled when she was asked to help teach the little dancers, and then was ultimately offered her first teaching job at Dance Magic and the rest is history! She taught several classes including several competition teams. She continued her dance education and enrolled and completed a semester of Tap and Modern classes at SUU with Kay Anderson. She moved away for about a year to Bemidji, MN but it didn’t take long for her to find a way to dance! She danced with the local University’s dancers just for fun, and to help keep her skills

up. She also got to teach at a local studio by the name of First City Dance Studio. She worked closely with the owner and director of the studio and taught several beginning/intermediate combination classes!

Jenny owned and directed her own dance studio for a year which was a big accomplishment, but decided it wasn’t the direction she wanted to go with her dance career. However, she knew she wasn’t done with dance or with teaching and made her way back to the studio she loved the most and she is grateful to be teaching among some of the best of the best!

Jenny has also worked in the medical field both as a Medical Assistant, as well as a CNA. She enjoyed many years of taking care of others and sharpening her skills in many different settings and had many opportunities and experiences that were incredibly fulfilling, but ultimately decided to hang up her scrubs and fulfill her dream of being an entrepreneur and owning her own business! She is a mother of 4 - 3 girls and 1 boy. She is also incredibly lucky to have such a supportive husband who encourages her and helps her accomplish everything she sets her mind to.

She loves teaching! Her favorite part is seeing her tiny dancers learn to love dance through good music, creative movement and a fun learning environment. She hopes to inspire young dancers and bring quality dance instruction to our community!
